Nigeria to build 500 CNG stations in three years to boost clean energy and fuel access.
Nigeria plans to build 500 compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling stations nationwide within three years, led by the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF) in partnership with China’s Endurance Group, the Bank of Industry, and Séquor Investment Partners.
A government-backed entity, CAM InfraCo, will oversee the rollout of integrated CNG stations, liquefied CNG plants, and a mobile truck-mounted cascade network to create a virtual pipeline.
The project aims to improve fuel access, reduce reliance on petrol and diesel, enhance energy security, and support cleaner transportation.
It also seeks to stimulate job creation and economic growth across Nigeria’s gas sector.
