New Zealand has launched a public consultation on a draft action plan to support unpaid carers, focusing on recognition, health and wellbeing, and financial security. Developed by the Ministry for Social Development with input from carer advocacy groups, the "rolling" plan seeks long-term solutions for the hundreds of thousands caring for others due to age, disability, or illness. Feedback is being gathered through workshops, surveys, and online submissions until 12 February 2026.
