A new high-speed rail line opened in Shaanxi, cutting travel time between Xi'an and Yan'an to about one hour.

A high-speed rail line connecting Xi'an and Yan'an in northern Shaanxi entered trial operations on November 17, 2025, marking the first high-speed rail in the region’s historic revolutionary base. The 299.8-kilometer route, designed for 350 km/h speeds, will cut travel time between the cities from 2.5 hours to about one hour. Test train 55302 began operations, transitioning from joint debugging to operational simulation. Yan'an, a key site in Chinese Communist Party history from 1937 to 1947, will see improved connectivity, boosting regional economic and social development.
