The former Colomendy camp in Denbighshire won’t house migrants, despite rumors, and will be redeveloped with community input.
The Home Office has confirmed that the former Colomendy holiday camp in Denbighshire, closed in January 2025 after its operator entered administration, will not be used to house illegal migrants.
The site, formerly under a 70-year lease from Liverpool City Council, has been reclaimed by the council, which is now working with Denbighshire County Council and local stakeholders to determine future uses.
Despite rumors of plans to accommodate over 600 migrants, no such plans are currently in place.
The council emphasized its sensitivity to the site’s history and announced it will appoint a consultant to help guide redevelopment decisions.
