A WWII Italian POW camp artifact collection, found in a guard’s belongings, is donated to Eden Camp Museum.
A collection of World War II artifacts linked to a former Italian prisoner-of-war camp in North Yorkshire has been donated to Eden Camp Museum by Nick Mildwater, grandson of a former guard.
Items include a wooden candle holder, a painting, handwritten notes, and handmade cigarette cases, some inscribed with names and dates.
Discovered among his grandfather’s belongings, the artifacts were traced to Camp 83, and after a family visit, Mildwater chose to donate them to preserve the history and human connections formed during the war.
The museum will add the items to its permanent collection.
