Prajwal Revanna appeals his 2024 rape conviction, citing weak evidence and unfair trial, in a case involving two 2021 rapes and leaked videos.
Prajwal Revanna, a former JD(S) MP, has appealed his 2024 rape conviction in the Karnataka High Court, arguing the trial court’s verdict was based on weak evidence, delayed reporting, inconsistent testimony, and media influence.
His defense cited flaws in evidence handling, lack of proper chain of custody, and failure to examine key investigators.
They also challenged the rapid sentencing and claim Revanna was denied a fair chance to present mitigating factors.
The case stems from allegations of two rapes in 2021 involving a 48-year-old woman at a family farmhouse, supported by video, DNA, and victim testimony.
Four cases have been filed against him, including charges tied to leaked explicit videos ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Revanna, detained since May 2024, seeks interim bail.
The High Court will continue hearing the appeal on November 25.
