Marcus Dawson sentenced to 2 years for knifing man in public, despite prior provocation and self-defense claims.
Marcus Dawson, 35, of Didcot, was sentenced to two years in prison on November 14 for a May 20 knife attack in a public area, after stealing a kitchen knife during a fight with Alan Lobb and attacking him again on King Alfred's Drive.
The incident, captured on CCTV, caused public alarm, and Lobb sustained a head injury, defending himself with a plant pot.
Dawson admitted his actions exceeded self-defense despite claims of prior provocation, and had a prior 2012 conviction for grievous bodily harm.
The court ordered the knife destroyed, noting Dawson’s intent to cause serious harm.
He had been in custody for six months and was working in a prison chapel.
