India and Russia are advancing talks on a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union, following high-level discussions in Moscow led by Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal. The talks, based on an 18-month work plan launched in August 2025, focus on boosting trade in sectors like pharmaceuticals, telecom, machinery, and automobiles, with a goal of reaching $100 billion in bilateral trade by 2030. Both sides agreed to quarterly regulatory dialogues to address non-tariff barriers, certification delays, and market access issues. The effort aims to diversify Indian exports, strengthen supply chains, and support small businesses amid global trade shifts.
