Ghana’s leader urges unity to save $1B 24-hour economy plan amid criticism over lack of results.
On November 15, 2025, Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin urged unified action across all government branches to support the 24-hour economy initiative, stressing that infrastructure alone won’t ensure success.
Speaking in Accra, he emphasized the need for strong legal frameworks, oversight, and transparency, warning that without collaboration among the executive, legislature, judiciary, and audit service, the program—aimed at boosting growth and reducing unemployment—could fail despite a $1 billion infrastructure investment.
He called for public-private partnerships and effective regulation to ensure resources are used efficiently.
Meanwhile, former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam criticized the initiative as lacking a clear plan and measurable results, noting persistent youth unemployment and economic struggles for farmers and traders despite initial promises.
El líder de Ghana insta a la unidad para salvar el plan de economía de 24 horas de $ 1B en medio de críticas por la falta de resultados.
