Emmy-winning television writer Dan McGrath, known for his work on "The Simpsons", "Saturday Night Live", "King of the Hill", and "Gravity Falls", has died at 61 from a stroke on November 14, 2025, at NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn. Born in Brooklyn in 1964, he attended Regis High School and earned a degree in East Asian Studies from Harvard, where he was involved with The Harvard Lampoon. McGrath joined "SNL" in 1991, earning an Emmy nomination, and won a 1997 Emmy for writing "The Simpsons" episode “Homer’s Phobia,” praised for its LGBTQ representation. He contributed to numerous acclaimed episodes across multiple shows and later worked on educational computer games. His family confirmed his passing and requested donations to Regis High School in his memory.
