The Oakland Athletics have signed 33-year-old first baseman Joey Meneses to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Meneses, who played Triple-A ball for the Mets in 2025, hit .265 with 11 home runs and posted a career Triple-A line of .282/.338/.480. He previously played in the majors with the Nationals from 2022 to 2024, including a strong rookie season, but saw declining production before being released. With Nick Kurtz and Brent Rooker securing first base and DH roles, Meneses is expected to begin the season in Triple-A Las Vegas, seeking a chance to return to the big leagues as a backup or injury replacement.
