Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan condemned the smuggling of Red Sanders, an endangered tree in Seshachalam Forest, calling it a spiritual and environmental crime.
He revealed the seizure of 260,000 logs—equivalent to 130,000 mother trees—worth ₹2,000 to 5,000 crore, and announced a special operation, modeled on 'Operation Black Forest,' to dismantle smuggling rings, arrest offenders, and seize assets under the Forest Act.
Kalyan emphasized the tree’s sacred significance tied to Lord Venkateswara and pledged strict enforcement.
Meanwhile, the National Biodiversity Authority distributed ₹3 crore to 199 beneficiaries, including farmers and a university, under the Access and Benefit-Sharing mechanism.
