U.S. signs new trade deals with four Latin American nations, cutting tariffs on key imports and boosting exports.
The U.S. announced new trade frameworks with Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala, and El Salvador, aiming to reduce tariffs on certain imports like coffee, bananas, and agricultural products while maintaining baseline tariffs—10% for Argentina, Guatemala, and El Salvador, and 15% for Ecuador.
The agreements, expected to be finalized in two weeks, include zero tariffs on U.S. industrial and agricultural exports, elimination of non-tariff barriers, and prohibitions on digital services taxes.
In return, select goods from the four nations may receive tariff relief, with Guatemala set to see 70% of its exports exempt.
The move is part of a broader strategy to lower consumer prices, boost U.S. exports, and strengthen economic ties in Latin America.
