MalaysiaNow must correct false claims about Pannir Selvam’s execution, as Singapore’s Pofma Office found five inaccuracies in its reporting.
Singapore’s Pofma Office has ordered Malaysian outlet MalaysiaNow to publish corrections after an article falsely claimed drug courier Pannir Selvam Pranthaman was executed without due process on October 8, 2025.
The Ministry of Home Affairs identified five inaccuracies, including false claims that Pannir’s legal appeals were ignored, that he was denied a Certificate of Substantive Assistance despite providing key info, and that a CNB officer secretly interviewed him disguised as a Malaysian officer.
MHA confirmed Pannir’s execution followed full legal procedures, including multiple appeals and clemency petitions, and that the September 27 interview was transparent, properly arranged by Malaysia’s NCID, and Pannir consented.
The corrections must appear on MalaysiaNow’s website and social media.
