India's wholesale inflation turned negative in October 2025, driven by falling food and fuel prices.
India’s wholesale inflation fell to -1.21% in October 2025, marking a rare shift into deflation driven by steep drops in food prices, including onions, potatoes, vegetables, and pulses.
Fuel, power, and manufactured goods also became cheaper, influenced by the September 22 GST rate cut and strong agricultural output.
This follows a 0.13% rise in September and a 2.75% increase a year earlier.
Retail inflation also hit a record low of 0.25%, strengthening expectations that the Reserve Bank of India may consider an interest rate cut in December.
