Hindustan Zinc wins Andhra mining licence for tungsten and key minerals to boost India’s self-reliance.

Hindustan Zinc Ltd has secured a composite mining licence from Andhra Pradesh to explore and potentially mine a tungsten and associated mineral block, expanding beyond its core zinc, lead, and silver operations. The licence, granted after HZL won a central government auction, allows for both exploration and, if successful, mining. The move supports India’s push for self-reliance in critical minerals essential for defence, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing. As the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and one of the top silver producers, HZL supplies over 40 countries and holds 77% of India’s primary zinc market.
