High school football playoffs kicked off in South Louisiana on Friday, with key matchups across the Acadiana region including a District 3-5A rematch between Carencro and Acadiana, St. Thomas More vs. Lafayette Mighty Lions, and Southside hosting Prairieville. Other games featured Cecilia vs. Carroll, Iota at Lutcher, Vermilion Catholic vs. Kentwood, Erath vs. Bogalusa, and Kaplan vs. Pine. Ascension Episcopal and Teurlings Catholic received byes but remain top contenders. Playoff brackets are expected to be released early next week.
