A man died Friday at the Constellation Energy Clinton Power Plant in Illinois after being electrocuted during maintenance on an electrical transformer, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. at the nuclear facility, where the man, an employee of a contractor, was working.
He was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m.
The DeWitt County Coroner’s office is leading the investigation, with an autopsy scheduled.
Constellation Energy called the event an “unusual event,” the lowest emergency classification level.
The company said it is cooperating with authorities and expressed sorrow over the loss.
