Brantford approves converting Fox Ridge into a homeless housing hub with shelter opening in 2026.
Brantford has endorsed plans to convert the former Fox Ridge property into a housing hub for the homeless, with an emergency shelter opening October 1, 2026, followed by transitional housing by late 2028 and potential affordable units in a new mid-rise building.
The 1.95-hectare site, bought for $11.5 million, will address a rising homeless population, now at 610—up from 200 five years ago—by serving families, couples, and vulnerable individuals lacking shelter options.
Part of the site is already housing Six Nations residents displaced by June 2025 floods.
A public meeting to address community concerns has been requested but not scheduled.
