U.S. cities stage updated "Nutcracker" productions with new casts, community involvement, and special events through December 21.

Multiple cities across the U.S. are presenting updated versions of "The Nutcracker" this holiday season, featuring new casts, special performances, and community involvement. In Thousand Oaks, California, newlywed dancers Tiler Peck and Roman Mejia headline the Pacific Festival Ballet’s 31st annual production, which includes a fifth show and guest artists. Georgia’s Metropolitan Dance Theatre and Nevada’s Dance Company are also staging performances with local youth and professional dancers, while Southold Dance Theater offers a shortened version to close its 50th anniversary season. Special events include a sensory-friendly show in Carson City and a live snowfall in Thousand Oaks. Performances run from late November through December 21, with tickets available online or at venues.
