The Trump administration announces new trade deals with four Latin American nations to boost U.S. exports and cut tariffs on key goods.
The Trump administration has unveiled new trade agreements with Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Ecuador aimed at expanding market access for U.S. goods and cutting non-tariff barriers.
Tariffs on imports from El Salvador, Argentina, and Guatemala will remain at 10%, while Ecuador will continue to face a 15% rate.
In return, these countries will drop tariffs on select exports such as coffee, cocoa, bananas, and certain textiles, which the U.S. does not produce at scale.
The White House says the deals are designed to narrow the U.S. trade deficit and are expected to be finalized within two weeks.
The announcement comes as the Supreme Court evaluates legal challenges to Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs, imposed under the IEEPA, a ruling that could carry major national and economic security implications.
