Toyota opened its first U.S. battery plant in North Carolina, producing 30 GWh annually and creating 5,100 jobs.
Toyota has launched production at its $13.9 billion battery plant in Liberty, North Carolina, marking its first U.S.-based battery facility and a key step in its electric vehicle strategy.
The 1,850-acre site, operational since November 12, 2025, will produce 30 gigawatt-hours of lithium-ion batteries annually and create up to 5,100 jobs.
The plant supports hybrid and battery electric vehicles, including new models like a three-row BEV, and is part of a broader $10 billion investment in U.S. operations over the next five years, bringing Toyota’s total U.S. investment to nearly $60 billion.
The company also pledged $2.7 million to local schools and plans to expand capacity by 2030.
