Thailand’s first industrial heat battery, a 33 MWh system, is now running at a cement plant, using stored solar and grid power to generate clean electricity 24/7.
Southeast Asia’s first industrial heat battery, a 33 MWh system in Thailand, is now operational at a cement plant, producing 24-hour clean electricity using stored solar and grid power.
Developed by Rondo Energy and SCG Cleanergy, the unit delivers superheated steam to drive a turbine, marking the first global use of stored heat for power generation.
Built in eight months using local Thai suppliers, it’s part of a scalable modular platform designed for industries like cement and chemicals.
The project supports regional decarbonization efforts and follows Rondo’s commissioning of the world’s largest industrial heat battery in California.
