Ørsted's new Osonic tech cuts offshore wind construction noise by 99%, earning a sustainability award and a key German partnership.
Danish energy company Ørsted has launched Osonic, a low-noise monopile installation technology that reduces underwater noise by up to 99% during offshore wind construction, significantly lowering harm to marine life.
The company has secured its first preferred supplier agreement with German firm Luxcara, enabling commercial deployment across Luxcara’s offshore wind projects in Germany.
Osonic, tested at Ørsted’s Gode Wind 3 project, uses jetting to reduce soil resistance, eliminating the need for noisy pile-driving.
The technology, now patent-pending, will be licensed and supported through engineering, procurement, and construction services.
The partnership marks a key step in expanding sustainable offshore wind development and earned Osonic the 2025 German Sustainability Award.
La nueva tecnología Osonic de Ørsted reduce el ruido de la construcción eólica marina en un 99%, lo que le ha valido un premio de sostenibilidad y una asociación clave con Alemania.
