Missouri man sentenced to 18 months for trafficking poppy seeds to make opioid tea.
Antony Graziano, a Missouri man, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute unprocessed poppy seeds intended for extracting opium alkaloids like morphine and codeine.
He ran an online business, Fireseed Bakery, and promoted the seeds for making a potent "poppyseed tea" similar to Oxycodone, acknowledging the high risk of overdose.
The sentence, to be served after a separate 50-month term, includes forfeiture of his Cape Girardeau home and $20,000.
The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and investigated by the DEA and FDA.
