A Minnesota man was charged with second-degree murder after allegedly killing his co-worker with a sledgehammer at a food processing plant.
A 40-year-old man, David Delong of Watkins, Minnesota, has been charged with second-degree murder in the sledgehammer killing of 20-year-old co-worker Amber Czech at a Cokato food and dairy processing plant on Tuesday morning.
Authorities say the attack occurred around 6 a.m. at Advanced Process Technologies, where surveillance footage shows Delong approaching Czech’s workstation, grabbing a sledgehammer, and striking her multiple times.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Delong was taken into custody without resistance and confessed, telling investigators he had planned the attack due to resentment toward Czech.
The facility paused production for the week, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Delong faces up to 40 years in prison, with the possibility of a charge upgrade to first-degree murder.
