Delhi High Court to hear Jan. 14, 2026, plea by jailed MP Engineer Rashid to waive parole costs for attending Parliament.
The Delhi High Court has scheduled a January 14, 2026, hearing on a plea by Baramulla MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh, also known as Engineer Rashid, seeking to modify financial conditions for custody parole to attend Parliament.
The case follows a split verdict on November 7, with one judge rejecting and another allowing his request to waive or reduce a ₹4 lakh travel and logistics cost.
Sheikh, in judicial custody in a terror funding case, has previously been granted parole to attend Parliament sessions.
His legal team argues that attending Parliament is a constitutional duty and the state should cover costs due to his custodial status.
The court, considering whether to refer the matter to a larger bench, has sought input from the NIA’s senior advocate Siddharth Luthra.
The case remains under review by a bench headed by the Chief Justice.
El Tribunal Superior de Delhi escuchará el 14 de enero de 2026, la petición del MP encarcelado Ingeniero Rashid de renunciar a los costos de la libertad condicional para asistir al Parlamento.
