Canadiens' Alex Newhook leaves game after hit by Stars' Lyubushkin, doesn't return.
Montreal Canadiens forward Alex Newhook was helped off the ice during a game against the Dallas Stars on November 14, 2025, after being clipped by Stars defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin while pursuing the puck behind the goal line. The contact caused Newhook to fall skate-first into the boards with 15:50 remaining in the second period. Replays showed the hit led to a hooking minor penalty for Lyubushkin. Newhook, 24, a center, was assisted to the bench by teammates and did not return. He ranked fifth on the Canadiens in scoring with 12 points (six goals, six assists) this season and had recorded points in three of his last five games. The team did not release a medical update on his condition.
