The Texas Rangers have hired Travis Jankowski as their first base coach, concluding his 11-year MLB career.
Jankowski, a 34-year-old speedster who played for eight teams including the Rangers in 2023 and 2024, had a standout season in 2023 with a .263 average during the team’s World Series run.
His hiring follows a connection with new manager Skip Schumaker, who coached him in San Diego.
The Rangers also added Alex Cintrón as assistant hitting coach, Rod Barajas as quality control coach, and Colby Suggs as bullpen coach, with Jordan Tiegs promoted to pitching coach.
Other role changes include Justin Viele as lead hitting coach, Corey Ragsdale to third base coach, and Brett Hayes as catching coach.
One more hire is pending to complete the staff.
