A Phoenix cop was indicted for felony assault after crashing at 86 mph in a 35 mph zone, injuring two in a turning car.
A Phoenix police officer, identified in a police report as Joshua Allen Woodcock, has been indicted on felony charges of aggravated assault and endangerment after a March 14 crash while on duty. Authorities say Woodcock was driving 86 to 89 mph in a 35 mph zone near Buckeye Road and I-17 when his patrol SUV struck a turning Honda sedan at 72 mph, then overturned, injuring Woodcock and two adults in the other vehicle. All injuries were non-life-threatening. The Phoenix Police Department referred the case to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, which secured an indictment after presenting evidence to a grand jury. The officer, who has served since 2015, remains on administrative leave. The department reiterated that officers must uphold the laws they enforce and emphasized accountability.
