Japanese actor Tatsuya Nakadai, star of Kurosawa classics like Ran and Kagemusha, has died at 92, Mumeijuku acting school confirmed. Rising to fame in the 1950s–60s through The Human Condition, he succeeded Toshiro Mifune as Kurosawa’s lead. Nakadai co-founded Mumeijuku in 1975, mentoring actors including 2023 Cannes Best Actor winner Koji Yakusho, and remained active in theater into 2025. Cause and exact date of death were not disclosed.
