Indian forces destroyed 25 acres of illegal poppy fields and eight huts in Manipur on Nov. 12, 2025, in a joint anti-drug operation.
On November 12, 2025, Indian security forces including Assam Rifles, CRPF, and Manipur Police destroyed about 25 acres of illegal poppy fields in Kangpokpi district’s Awlmun area, along with eight processing huts, in a joint operation targeting drug cultivation linked to insurgent funding.
The effort, based on intelligence and conducted under difficult conditions, aimed to disrupt narcotics networks and prevent resurgence, with officials noting the seized fields could yield 190 kg of opium.
The operation is part of a broader state-led “War on Drugs” campaign in Manipur’s remote hill regions.
