Apple's study shows EU app prices didn't drop despite lower fees, with most savings not passed to consumers.
Apple says a study it commissioned found that lower developer fees in the EU due to the Digital Markets Act did not result in lower app prices for consumers. Despite a reduction in commissions from 30% to about 20%, over 90% of app prices remained unchanged or increased, with only 9% seeing decreases—patterns consistent with normal market behavior. Most of the fee savings went to non-EU developers, and Apple argues the regulation has hindered startups and raised consumer risks without delivering promised price benefits. The European Commission did not comment.
