A 39-year-old man from Epsom, Victoria, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for possessing and supplying illegal drugs after being stopped in Nowra, New South Wales, while moving to start a new life.
Matthew Wayne Martin pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including possession of restricted substances like methamphetamine, GHB, testosterone, and a prohibited weapon.
Authorities found 20.3 grams of methamphetamine and 47 grams of GHB in his vehicle, with an additional 62.7 grams of GHB and other controlled substances in a suitcase.
The GHB amount exceeded the threshold for indictable offenses.
Martin, who had recently been released from custody, admitted to supplying drugs to support his own habit and claimed he was trying to rebuild his life.
The court acknowledged his community support and commitment to change but stressed that drug dealing would not be tolerated.
He will be eligible for release in June 2026 after serving a 12-month non-parole period.
