Missouri unveiled a new $157K obelisk on Veterans Day to honor Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.
On Veterans Day, November 11, 2025, Missouri dedicated a new black granite obelisk at the state capitol in Jefferson City to honor veterans who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
The $157,000 addition, completed in six months, features symbolic 'M' and 'V' designs and was championed by State Rep. Dave Griffith, a veteran.
The monument is part of the expanded Missouri Veterans Memorial, which now includes tributes to service members from multiple conflicts and plans to eventually display casualty numbers.
The unveiling, held on the capitol’s north side amid autumn foliage, marks a formal recognition of modern-era veterans’ sacrifices.
