A man accused in the April 2025 kidnapping and murder of a Sydney woman has been denied bail.
A 29-year-old man, The Anh Nguyen, has been denied bail in connection with the April 2025 kidnapping and murder of Thi Kim Tran, a 45-year-old woman in Bankstown, Australia, following her husband’s alleged theft of 80kg of methamphetamine.
Tran was abducted from her home by three masked men, bound, gagged, and found dead in a burnt-out SUV.
Nguyen allegedly drove a convoy to her home and was present during the attack, which included an assault on an eight-year-old boy.
Prosecutors say circumstantial evidence, including a balaclava and baseball bat seen during a stop at a BP station, indicates his knowledge of the crime, while his defense questions the reliability of statements from Tran’s husband.
Magistrate Robyn Denes cited risks of flight and witness intimidation.
Nguyen faces multiple charges, including murder and conspiracy.
Three other men have also been charged.
A further bail hearing is expected in the NSW Supreme Court, with all defendants due in court on January 14.
