The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has partnered with behavioural insights firm BIT to boost compliance with mandatory biometric updates for children aged 5 and 15, using research-based strategies to overcome awareness, logistical, and behavioural barriers.
Starting October 1, 2025, all fees for biometric updates are waived for children aged 7 to 15 for one year, potentially benefiting around 60 million children.
The initiative aims to ensure continued access to essential public services by improving the accuracy and reliability of Aadhaar-linked identities through timely fingerprint, iris, and photo updates.
