Shannon Allan, a 47-year-old childcare worker in Deniliquin, pleaded not guilty on November 12, 2025, to an assault charge stemming from an alleged incident on November 12, 2024, when she reportedly poured water from a drink bottle onto a child at a local early learning centre.
The case, part of a months-long investigation by the Murray River Police District, has been adjourned until December 10, 2025, when police must serve the brief of evidence.
Allan, one of two individuals charged in connection with alleged incidents at the same centre, was excused from attending the next hearing if legally represented and maintaining her not guilty plea.
The other charged individual, Carissa Godfrey, 27, also pleaded not guilty in October to similar charges involving a garden hose and faces the same hearing date.
