The San Francisco Giants have hired Bruce Bochy as a special advisor to baseball operations, returning him to the organization six years after his final season as manager.
Bochy, 70, led the Giants to three World Series titles from 2007 to 2019 and previously managed the Padres and Rangers, winning a title with Texas in 2023.
His tenure with the Rangers ended in September 2025 after an 81-81 season.
Though not named manager—Tony Vitello was hired instead—Bochy’s experience and deep ties to the franchise are seen as key to the Giants’ rebuilding efforts under new president Buster Posey.
