Namibia's Electoral Court rejected a group's bid to join Windhoek's city council election, citing late filing and lack of jurisdiction.
The Namibian Electoral Court dismissed a lawsuit by the Khomas Residents and Rate Payers Association seeking to participate in the Windhoek City Council election, ruling it lacked jurisdiction.
The group claimed it couldn’t access the ECN’s online portal by the 16 October deadline and argued physical nominations should have been accepted, but the court said the association should have filed with the Windhoek Electoral Tribunal and failed to submit its list on time.
The ECN maintained both online and in-person submissions were allowed, and the court upheld the election process.
Oral arguments were heard, and the decision was issued without further appeal details.
