A Ballarat man is expected to face charges including perjury and making a false report after allegedly claiming his Holden Commodore VE was stolen following a high-speed chase on the Western Freeway on November 1, 2025. Police say the vehicle reached 224 km/h during a pursuit after being clocked at over 160 km/h in a 110 km/h zone. The registered owner was arrested on November 10 and is accused of falsely reporting the theft. Authorities are still investigating who was driving. Police emphasized public safety guided their decision to end the chase and stated they will continue pursuing accountability regardless of initial evasion.
