Med Flight-1, a Virginia State Police helicopter crewed by Chesterfield County Fire and EMS personnel, responded from Chesterfield County Airport, arriving about 54 minutes after launch despite windy and rainy conditions.
A hoist rescue was conducted after forestry crews cleared a 40-by-60-foot landing zone in the tree canopy.
Rescue Technician Anja Hamilton was lowered to secure the hiker, who was airlifted to Lynchburg General Hospital by 2:20 p.m.
The rescue marked the fifth hoist operation for Med Flight-1 in 2025.
The hiker’s condition was not disclosed.
