Hannibal Gaddafi, son of Libya’s late leader Muammar Gaddafi, has been released from a Lebanese prison after nearly a decade in detention.
He was freed on a $900,000 bail, reduced from $11 million, following diplomatic efforts by a Libyan delegation and the lifting of a travel ban.
Gaddafi had been held since 2015 on allegations of withholding information about the 1978 disappearance of Lebanese cleric Mussa Sadr, though he was never formally charged.
His release was confirmed by Lebanese judicial and security officials, as well as his legal team, and marks the end of a prolonged legal standoff.
