Gujarat honored as top state for tribal uplift under national program, achieving major infrastructure and health gains.
Gujarat has been named the top-performing state in India for implementing the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan, a 2023 central government initiative to uplift 75 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups.
Under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat received the 'Best Performing State' award from President Droupadi Murmu for progress in electrifying 6,630 households, providing piped water to 2,803 homes, approving 14,552 housing units, and deploying 22 mobile medical units serving over 125,000 people.
The state also built 21 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras, approved 45 new roads totaling 94 km, and completed 21 of 36 planned mobile towers, bringing 4G to 41 tribal areas.
Plans include 13 hostels and 67 Anganwadis.
Achievements were driven by detailed household surveys and coordination among eight central ministries.
