Ghana’s government is seeking GH¢500 million to address a surplus of farm produce, prevent post-harvest waste, and protect farmers’ incomes, according to Minister of Food and Agriculture Eric Opoku, who announced the need on November 10, 2025.
He stressed the urgency of data-driven interventions, including technical assessments and procurement, to stabilize markets and maintain farmer confidence.
Without action, surplus could deter future agricultural investment.
