Fargo delayed annexing 800 acres for a $3B AI data center amid local opposition and no response from Harwood.
The Fargo City Commission postponed voting on annexing nearly 800 acres north of the city, including land for a $3 billion AI data center, until November 24 amid opposition from Harwood Mayor Blake Hankey, who urged Fargo to halt the effort, citing Harwood’s jurisdiction and lack of consent.
Applied Digital, the developer, also opposed the annexation, calling it unwarranted and damaging to trust.
Despite Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney’s claims of outreach, Harwood has not responded.
The data center’s construction began November 10.
