Senate Reaches Bipartisan Deal to End 40-Day Shutdown, Fund Government Through January.
Senators Angus King, Jeanne Shaheen, and Maggie Hassan are leading a bipartisan deal to end the 40-day government shutdown.
The agreement would fund the federal government through January 30, restore jobs and back pay for furloughed workers, and maintain food stamp funding through fiscal year 2026.
It also provides full-year appropriations for military construction, veterans affairs, the legislative branch, and the Department of Agriculture.
While the deal does not extend Affordable Care Act subsidies, Republicans have agreed to a future vote on the matter.
Some Democrats oppose the compromise over health care concerns, and final approval in the Senate remains uncertain.
