Welsh Water to cut 500 jobs to save £50M annually amid financial challenges.
Welsh Water’s outgoing CEO Peter Perry told Senedd members on November 5 that the company plans to cut about 500 full-time jobs over 18 to 24 months to save £50 million annually.
The move, described as necessary due to financial strain from the pandemic, droughts, and a credit downgrade, aims to ensure long-term sustainability.
Despite the cuts, the company confirmed its £4 billion investment plan for 2025–2030 remains unchanged.
Perry, retiring after 46 years, said the transformation is driven by rising scrutiny, customer expectations, and environmental demands.
