Vanuatu launched its first gender study on the green energy transition, supported by UNDP and Japan, focusing on equitable participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities in the country’s shift to renewables.
The study, centered on Pentecost Island, supports a pilot project with three pico-hydro power stations delivering 24/7 electricity to about 3,000 people directly and 6,000 indirectly via a 32-kilometer network.
