Twenty-one Maltese police officers were promoted in a ceremony at Police Headquarters, including two inspectors elevated to superintendent and 19 constables to sergeant.
Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà highlighted that nearly 40% of those promoted were women, reinforcing Malta’s standing as the EU’s seventh-highest country for female police representation.
Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri credited the force’s efforts for recent crime declines, noting Malta’s global ranking among the 12 safest countries.
The event, attended by senior officials, also marked the launch of a new five-year corporate strategy aimed at modernizing operations and strengthening public trust.
